Since it is about time DCYPLUS (Burmese Hip Hop group, based in D.C), I just thought it would be the right time to reintroduce them here.
In the fall of 2004, Sean and Kyaw Kyaw Soe got together to start a Burmese hip hop group in D.C. Their main goal was just to make music that they love and in a bit they found 3 other members, Peter Lwin,Ye Mon Min (MC Ye) and Tun Hla Aung.
With the help of close friends they recorded the demo album by the winter of 2004. And by 2005 May they held a concert here in Maryland and it was a great turn out. Following that year DCYPLUS started making music videos for their singles with their close friend Danyar. The video for Way Way Nay Yar Mha Achit was released online and their music was well received.
Even though crowd is starting to pick up the name DCYPLUS, they didn’t have enough time to work on an album for a release. Years have flew by to 2011 and Kyaw Kyaw returned back to D.C and try to pick up where they left off.
With a lot of planning and efforts both at home in Myanmar and over here in D.C, DCYPLUS is finishing off their official album. Songs selection has been made and feature artists have recorded their parts. They have reunited with their in house Director, Danyar and wrapping up the videos over here in the states.
2004 to 2012 is a long time, but one thing still remain the same is their passion for the music that they do.
Have a blessed trip, DCYPLUS.
